The introduction to Glassblowing class offered at
imagine360 will be a comprehensive introduction to
the world of glass blowing. Instructor Jonathan
LaMaire will give a brief lecture on the history of
glass-blowing, the origin and applications of
various techniques, and what glass-blowing means in
his life today. After the lecture Jonathan will do a
series of demonstrations and answer any questions
that those enrolled in the class might have. Since
the introduction to Glassblowing class will not be
hands on enrolment will not be limited, however in
the event that hands-on classes are offered in the
future, participants in this class will be given
preferential treatment when it comes time to enroll.
Teaching hands-on classes in glassblowing require a great deal of specialized equipment in order to provide students with an adequate and fulfilling experience. Such equipment can be extremely costly. Given the fact that such classes have never been offered in West Michigan, it is a risky investment for the artist to buy several more work stations. The introduction to Glassblowing class will serve to give us some idea of what the interest level to hands-on classes will be. Monies generated by the introductory class will help to pay for the equipment needed for future classes if it is determined that such interest exists. Thank you for supporting independent artists.
